Pinson Family

Pinson Mills is associated with the history of Orange County, North Carolina. Reverend Aaron Pinson, born around 1725 in Virginia, settled in old Orange County, North Carolina. He owned a grist mill in the area, which included Pinson’s Mill. This mill was already in operation at the High Rock of the Haw River, located in the extreme southeast corner of present-day Rockingham County1.

Additionally, Joseph Pinson Sr., born in 1754 at Pinson’s Mill on the Haw River in Old Orange County, North Carolina, later moved to Rabun, Georgia. The Pinson family’s legacy is intertwined with the history of this region, and their mills played a significant role in the local economy and community.
